Kia Slashes EV6 Pricing by Up to $6,000 in US Market
Kia has announced a significant price reduction of $5,000 to $6,000 on its popular EV6 electric crossover in the United States, effective immediately. The move aims to boost sales amid growing competition in the EV sector.
Industry analysts say the price cut could make the EV6 one of the most affordable electric vehicles in its class. 'This is a bold strategic play by Kia to capture market share,' said automotive expert Dr. Lisa Tran of Global Auto Insights.
Background
The Kia EV6 was first launched in the US in early 2022 as a stylish, long-range electric crossover. It quickly earned praise for its design, performance, and fast-charging capability, but sales have lagged behind rivals like the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Kia's latest incentive reduces the starting price to around $37,000 after federal tax credits, depending on trim. The discount applies to both 2023 and 2024 models, according to a Kia spokesperson who spoke on condition of anonymity.
What This Means
For consumers, the lower price makes the EV6 a more compelling option against competitors that have also recently cut prices. 'This could trigger a price war in the EV crossover segment,' noted industry analyst Mark Rivera of CarTrends.
The reduction may also help Kia clear inventory ahead of the 2025 model year updates. Dealers report increased inquiries since the announcement went live on manufacturer websites earlier today.
Long-term, the move signals Kia's commitment to aggressive EV pricing as it pushes toward its goal of becoming a top-three EV brand globally by 2026. The EV6 price cut is expected to remain in effect through at least the end of the current quarter.
