"I just wanted to check my favorite subreddits, but Reddit wouldn't let me," the user said. "The only option was to download the app, which I don't want."
Tech analysts say this aggressive tactic is part of a broader industry trend to push users toward native apps, which offer better data collection and ad revenue opportunities.
